Time For Reflection – A Look Back

In April of 2015 I wrote a post called Time, The Great Excuse and I wrote it as a wake-up call to myself (and to anyone else who may read) to say time is not an excuse and to stop using time as an excuse to why we haven’t achieved the goals in life we so desire.

Be it weight loss, learning a new language, starting a business, traveling overseas or any number of other goals we all set ourselves at some time in our lives.

As the article explained, I am just as guilty of this if not worse than you, as I have always wanted to get under 9% body fat, write more blog posts and learn a new language and have constantly used the time excuse as a reason to why I never achieved these goals

I read back over it today and I reflect on just how hectic my life has become since writing that article, now having a baby daughter to help take care of. If I thought I was busy then, then there is no way I could possibly have gotten anything done with a baby now in my life.

Well, since that post I may not have written as many articles as I would have liked however I have written a book which is due to be released in 3-4 weeks time, started 2 new businesses, decided to move and live in an entirely different country and so required to learn a new language and even managed to get under 10% body fat, sorry for the partial nudity.

I don’t say these things to boast; I say them to hopefully make you ask the question of yourself…. Are you really that busy that you can’t go and chase your dreams or tick off those life goals you have always wanted to or at the very least just start working towards them?

 

In April of 2015 I decided to never use time as my excuse ever again and began to prioritise what I really wanted to achieve and just go out and do it. Now I am not saying that I haven’t had times over the past 18 months where I haven’t just flopped on the couch and watched an episode of mind numbing reality show (I secretly love it though) when I could have been using that time to keep pushing forward in my pursuit of the life goals and dreams I so badly want, however I think I can honestly say that I am well on my way to doing what I set out to achieve and I am most definitely closer to those goals than I was in April of 2015.

 

We all have the exact same 24 hours every day and it is up to you how you wish to use them. If you want to sit on the couch and binge-watch the latest season of Unreal (SO GOOD) or Game of Thrones this weekend then go right ahead and no one, (especially me, as I have watched both) has the right to tell you that you can’t do this. However, and it is a BIG however…..

If you then come to me on Monday morning and you complain to me, your husband, your work colleague, your next door neighbour or any number of other people in your lives that you don’t have time to go for a run, plan your meals for the week ahead, read a book, learn a new skill or whatever it is your complaining about, I am here to tell you to STOP.
I don’t care, the people you are complaining to don’t care and we are sick and tired of hearing you complaining. The small amount of people that do listen to you are secretly hoping you fail and never achieve your goals, as this will make them feel better that they haven’t done what they set out to achieve in life.

 

I will leave you with this……

I am terrified of ever uttering the words “I WISH”…….(Fill the Blank)

I will never die wondering and I will never get to the end of my days and say “I WISH”……

Please, I beg of you to stop saying you will do something tomorrow, next week, on January 1st or when you are not so busy and just start doing something today and not tomorrow that will take you a step closer to your goals.

 

I don’t know of anyone that would look back at life and regret the things they have done, however there are far too many people that do wish they had done more….
Don’t be one of them!
